It is our responsibility to live happy lives and to let others to live happy lives as well. If we can do that there will be no regret.

How much are our days consumed, eaten up in the press of what needs doing? How much do we lose of ourselves in the process of wandering in the past or in the future, rather than being fully aware of that, which is right here and now?

Being fully in the moment brings about a truly enriching and liberating experience. In fact, such experience is accessible to us, twenty-four hours a day. All we need to learn is to gain control over habitual patterns of our mind, which constantly drive us away from such experience. This perpetually present invitation to wake up to ourselves and to life is the challenge and the gift of Awareness Intelligence (AI). AI is not something apart form our self or our life. It is the way we perceive the world, the way we walk, communicate, work, and the way we deal with challenges. It is never far it is right within this very experience, within each and every moment of our own. In this process, we bring all of life’s possibilities, its beauty, joy, and its strength back to ourselves by training the mind to be fully aware of each and every moment. It is an occasion for happiness. Individuals do not exist independently from one another, but rather rely on interconnectedness and interdependence for their very survival. Therefore it is of vital importance not to separate personal well-being from the well-being of others.

What is the Awareness Intelligence?

Awareness Intelligence concept offers a component model of mindfulness and compassionate activity:

Mindfulness refers to a psychological quality that involves bringing one’s complete attention to a moment-to-moment experience, which involves paying attention in the present moment, and non-judgmentally. It involves present-centered awareness in which each thought, feeling, or sensation that arises in the attentional field is acknowledged and accepted as it is, without being caught by mental habitual patterns, bias or premature mental responses. Mindfulness practice aims at refining our attention and awareness, enabling us to stay focused even in situations of outer or inner turmoil, to observe the interplay of the multitude of influences that shape a given situation and to gain the inner space that allows making the most beneficial decisions. The invitation and the challenge of the mindfulness is to make ourselves available for just that learning of what life itself has to teach us when we become calm enough and quiet enough to listen, to know what we are feeling and what we are faced with, to examine, to inquire, to attend, to simply be.

Compassion refers to a positive quality that takes the responsibility to act for the benefit of others as well as oneself in the best and the most effective way possible. It is a process that unfolds in response to being aware of anxiety. It begins with the recognition of unpleasant circumstances, and inner mental responses, which gives rise to empathy and motivates compassionate action to relieve that obscuration in the way that positively benefits the most.

The first aspect of mindfulness involves the self-regulation of attention so that it is maintained on immediate experience of moment to moment awareness, thereby allowing for increased recognition of thoughts and feeling and other mental events. Increasing mindful attention, allows to clearly identify the right information and work with it in a flexible and positive way. The second component involves adopting an empathy and compassion, which effortlessly acts for the benefit of all, characterized by openness, curiosity and acceptance. Both aspects are closely related to each other. The gift of Awareness Intelligence creates a bridge between compassionate activity and mindful awareness. It is the union of awareness and compassion, which allows one to thinks, speaks and acts in the most practical, beneficial and meaningful way.

I'm not responsible for what people think about me,

but I am responsible for how I react to it.

Preliminary research on Mindfulness and Compassion training suggests that similar programs can increase well-being, reduce stress, anxiety, and depression, enhance connection with others and therefore increase happiness.

Each of us has the full potential to unfold Awareness Intelligence within once own being as a naturally inherent quality of mind. Nonetheless, this potential is often covered by everyday stress, confusion, social pressures, or difficult experiences. The process of discovering these qualities requires patience, steady care, proper tools, and a supportive environment. Though eventually it brings us the result we desire the most, happiness. It is our responsibility to live happy lives and to let others to live happy lives as well. If we can do that there will be no regret.

What is the Awareness Intelligence Program?

The Awareness Intelligence Program (AIP) is a program designed to develop the qualities of positive intention, awareness, empathy, kindness, and compassion. AIP integrates traditional contemplative practices with contemporary psychology and scientific research on happiness, mindfulness, compassion and health.

The process of cultivating Awareness Intelligence involves training our mind, developing specific skills in how we relate to ourselves and others, and intentionally choosing appropriate thoughts, words and actions.

AIP goes beyond feeling more empathy and concern for others. It includes the development of the strength to deal with challenges, the courage to take compassionate and meaningful action. These qualities support a wide range of goals, from improving social relationships to making a positive difference in the world. AI Program offers immediate access to once own powerful inner resources for insight, transformation, and healing. It is an occasion for one’s true genius.

AI Program includes:

  • AI Seminars/Workshops that includes lecture, discussion, listening and communication exercises, research, etc.

  • Practical Sessions to naturally develop positive values and purpose, mindfulness training, kindness, and compassion, in order to connect knowledge with experience.

  • Homework” assignments to practice Awareness Intelligence

What kind of areas AI covers?

Education - including courses and workshops that teach techniques to cultivate awareness, compassion and altruism cultivation training programs

Research - including basic and clinical neuroscience, psychology, sociology, neuroeconomics, genetics, public health, education and other relevant approaches

Integration of research findings, including public lectures, meetings and conferences with scientists and other scholars that focus on awareness and compassion to share knowledge, creating platform for collaborations, stimulate further study of compassion and further building of practices based on research outcomes

The Awareness Intelligence is striving to

create a community of scholars and researchers, including neuroscientists, psychologists, educators and philosophical and contemplative thinkers around the study of mindful awareness and compassion. Drawing from such varied disciplines - from etiological approaches that examine the evolutionary roots of compassion to skills training programs for strengthening awareness intelligence to neuroscientific studies of the brain mechanisms, as well as the 'warm glow' feelings that reinforce helping others and genuine happiness, AI is working to gain a deep understanding of mind qualities and human behaviors in all its beauty and its richness.
